Roman's First Boat Ride

These pictures are from Memorial Day Weekend, May 30th, 2010.  Roman's first boat ride was a success....he slept the whole time!  He looked extremely uncomfortable in his life jacket, but apparently he felt snuggled and secure and drifted off into dreamland.  Aidan loves boat rides and is only really happy when he is the Captain!  He likes to turn the boat to the constant right, which doesn't really get us anywhere, but makes him feel very accomplished!
This picture of Roman is on May 21, 2010.  He has grown so much since then!  He is such a blessing.

Has it really been 3 months already?!

Yesterday marked the day that Roman is 12 weeks, and I am wondering where the time went?! I really think that time goes by faster and faster because I don't remember it going by this fast when we had Aidan! Roman and Aidan have grown so much in the past 3 months, and we're adjusting really well to being a family of 4. I've definitely had my moments of total breakdowns and there have been plenty of times where I want to pull my hair out (the little hair I have left.... apparently my hair loves to fall out after I have children!), but I love being a mommy. Every day my babies get bigger and learn new things. I try to savor every moment because at this rate I'll close my eyes and they'll be in high school!

Here's a short recap of all the things that have gone on over the past 12 weeks. (I'm going to try and be better at blogging more often, but it's hard to find the time!)

This is what dinner looks like for us now. Aidan is a big eater of all fruit, goldfish and applesauce. He loves feeding himself and he is becoming extremely independent! He has discovered the word, "No!" and uses that for most everything. He also loves to say, "doggy," "kitty cat," "daddy," "peese," (that's "please") and "baby." Notice that the word "mommy" is not in there....funny huh?! I am in that child's face 24 hours a day, yet he has only said "mama" a handful of times. I like to believe it's because he loves me so much and knows I'm always there that there is no reason to say it a lot! :)
Here's my little smiling baby at 11 weeks! Roman is sooo happy (just like his big bro Aidan....always smiling), except when it's eating time....then he unleashes the "hysterical" Roman. I love having another baby in the house. I didn't realize how much I missed the "baby stage!" It might be the post-pregnancy hormones, but sometimes I get upset because Roman is growing sooo fast that I can't keep up....and it feels like Aidan went from baby to toddler overnight!

Laughing!
Aidan is a mini-me when it comes to cleaning! He's my little helper (although most of the time he is technically not helping mommy as much as he thinks! :)

This is Aidan's "guilty" face! He likes to take Roman's pacy and then put it back in his mouth. Unfortunately for Roman he does not find this game fun.
Big lick from Herschel! Herschel gets along with the boys so great. He may be a "Marley," but he really is such a sweet dog.

This picture is Aidan at a little over 3 months....
And this is Roman at a little under 3 months. I like to compare pictures to see the similarities and differences.
This picture makes me laugh! This is Roman at 2 1/2 months! He looks so perturbed!
Goldfish and apple juice are a necessity for Aidan

Aidan speaking "Aidanese" in the bathtub!
We took Aidan to his first Braves game on April 5, 2010! He loved it!!
Aidan loved all the clapping!

We had great seats 3 rows from the field. Aidan loved watching when the baseball players would run and everyone would clap and yell. He also really like the frozen lemonade treats :)
These pictures are from Easter on April 4, 2010. The Easter Bunny got Aidan a lawnmower!
Aunt Shelley with the boys!
The whole family!!
Aidan pointing at the camera cracks me up! He loves to point at things. Roman was 1 month and 3 days here.....sweet baby.
Roman's first Easter! His Easter basket is bigger than him :)

Uncle Tommy and Aidan in his Easter suit! He was sooooo adorable.

All in all, things are great. Josh and I love being parents and although 2 is harder than 1, it's also more fun! We're richly blessed with a great family, awesome friends, and beautiful babies. God is good!

Sweet Pictures

Roman was 7 days old when we had these pictures taken. We love how they turned out....especially the ones with Aidan in them! He loves his little brother :)

Right now Roman is 5 weeks old and is pretty much sleeping through the night. He sleeps about 7 to 8 hours, which makes my life a WHOLE lot easier. I'm so blessed to have 2 baby boys that sleep like their mommy & daddy! He's growing and eating like there is no tomorrow. We think that he's about 9-10 lbs now, but he doesn't go back to the doctor until next month. He's a lot more alert throughout the day....especially when Aidan is around! We laugh because Roman always has an "alert/mad" face that's soo cute. He's trying to smile...he'll briefly do it every now and again when his little face muscles are practicing :)

Overall, week 5 has been easier than the other weeks. I'm getting used to dividing my time between the 2 boys and I'm getting more sleep, which makes everyone happier! I'm still struggling with getting all of us out the door without it taking 100 hours... and Roman is usually crying because he hates his car seat, but big brother Aidan always "talks" to him and tries to make him feel better. They are so cute together.

Roman Thomas Dupree

Birth Story:
Absolutely nothing was happening up until 3 hours before Roman was born. His original due date was Tuesday, March 2 and I had not had one contraction and I really wasn't dilating. On Monday, March 1st I started to feel some light contractions during the day, but I was able to clean our whole house and then I went and ran some errands with Aidan in the afternoon. We got home around 6pm and went for a small walk, and by then I could feel the contractions a little more...but it still wasn't anything to talk about. By 7 Aidan was asleep and Josh and I ate dinner and my contractions were about 10 min. apart. Josh really wanted to go to the hospital, but for some reason I just had it in my head that this was just "false labor" and nothing to worry about! I decided to take a shower just in case I went into labor in the middle of the night (and because I DID NOT want to have greasy hair after delivering a baby! :) and right when I got out my water broke! That was about 8:20pm. I still felt great so I finished drying my hair, put on some makeup and finished packing my bag. By the time Josh's mom got to our house to watch Aidan (this was 20 min. later) my contractions were about 4 min. apart and I was definitely feeling them! They came on like a freight train.....I felt like I went from 0 to 60 in 10 seconds! I seriously didn't think I'd make it to the hospital. When we got to the hospital my contractions were 2 min. apart and I barely had time for a slight epidural (thank God...once that miracle drug kicked in I felt SO much better!!) and then 30 min. later and a few pushes and Roman Thomas was born!!

Roman was born on March 1st at 10:57pm weighing 7 lbs 5 oz and was 19.5" long! It was such an easy and extremely fast labor. If we have a third baby I'll have to camp out in the hospital parking lot :)

Nana and Pappy came to see their second Grandchild right after he was born! This was when he was about 30 minutes old (it was also 11:30pm and they both had to wake up in 5 hours :).

Grandma Cathy and Roman :)
Grandpa and Roman. Mike and Cathy took care of Aidan and Herschel while we were in the hospital, which is NOT an easy task! They are both a handful :)
Sweet baby boy. He looks so much like Josh to me....and he reminds me of Aidan as a baby :)
First picture as a family of 4!!
Right before we left the hospital. I LOVED his going home outfit!
Proud Daddy!
He has extremely long toes and fingers like his Mommy!
Aidan LOVES his little brother. When we got home he kept on trying to put his pacy in his mouth for him.
This is Aidan's attempt to put the pacy back in Roman's mouth! Too cute.

Aidan, Samantha, Aunt Emily and little Em
Brothers! It's amazing how fast the time goes by....it's hard to remember Aidan that small and that was only 17 months ago! I love having a newborn again. And Aidan has done such a great job adjusting to Roman....he says, "Hello Baby" (except "baby" comes out as "bobby") and he gives him hugs and kisses. It's so cute to see them together.
Giving Roman kisses :)
Aunt Shelley!

Uncle Tommy and Marissa

This is a sneak peek of the newborn pictures we had done of Roman and Aidan! They turned out SO CUTE! We cannot wait to see the rest!

Overall, I personally think that going from 1 baby to 2 babies is a whole lot easier than going from 0 babies to 1! Aidan keeps me so busy that so far adding Roman in the mix hasn't been near as hard as I was expecting. I also have an amazing husband that helps out SO MUCH....so as long as I can survive until he gets home....I'm good! Roman is 2 weeks now and we've all adjusted really well! The hardest part is the whole "not sleeping" a consecutive 6 hours...but I'm hoping that we only have a few more weeks of that. Wishful thinking?! :)
